BARTONVILLE, Ill. -- Bartonville Police are investigating an attempted burglary.
Police say the incident has no relation to the recent home invasions in North Peoria.
Around 9 PM Friday a white male attempted to break into 4815 Wanda Street in Bartonville.
Keri Strait was sitting on her bed folding laundry when she heard a pop and then saw an arm reach through the window, just missing her head.
All of the lights were on in the house at the time and her mother and two sons were home. Strait yelled loudly to her family and than called police.
"Talked with them to get them out here and then I just started yelling and making noise and I told my oldest son to go get the gun that was in the basement and I think that's what made him take off," Strait said.
Several K9s pursued the suspect and lost him. Police are thanking several neighbors who spotted the suspect running through yards and called in.
Police advise people in the neighborhood to lock their doors and windows.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing all black and believed to be between the ages of 18 and 22.
