Bartonville woman accused of stealing from area church

BARTONVILLE, Ill. -- An area woman is behind bars accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a Bartonville church.

Forty-two-year-old Amy Pleshko of Bartonville is accused of taking about $67,000 from the Bethel Lutheran Church where she worked part-time. Pleshko was allegedly forging checks and using the church credit card for personal use.

Pleshko is charged with one count of theft from a place of worship and 20 counts each of deceptive practices and forgery.

She is likely to make her first court appearance on Friday.
