Bloomington man dies while kayaking

GENEVA, Ill. -- A Bloomington man is dead and another is recovering in the hospital after a weekend kayak trip.

A group of six men from Bloomington traveled to Geneva to kayak down the Fox River.

But things took a turn for the worst after two 26-year-old's lost control of their kayak.

According to a release from the Geneva Fire Department, it happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

One of the men was found unconscious, floating in the river. He was taken to the hospital and is recovering.

A second man, later identified as Dinesh Sudhakar-Uckoo, 26, was pulled out of the water by authorities about two hours later. He was pronounced dead at Delnor Hospital.

Autopsy results show Sudhakar-Uckoo died of drowning. Toxicology tests have been ordered.
