NORMAL, Ill. -- It appears two dorms at Illinois State University will be demolished.

The ISU Board of Trustees have approved the demolition of the Hamilton-Whitten and Atkin-Colby resident halls.

The buildings were closed in 2012 because they were not up to state standards.

The plan for the sites, once the buildings torn down, is to turn it into green space.

No word on when the demolition will begin.
