Body found in old Farmington High School building

FARMINGTON, Ill. -- An unidentified body was found at the Old School Center in Farmington Thursday afternoon, after the building was destroyed by a fire two weeks ago.

Farmington police say the fire department was contacted by the building’s owner at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday in reference to a foul odor coming from the third floor of the building.

Personnel discovered what appeared to be the remains of a human body among debris on the building’s third floor.

The body was removed by the Fulton County Coroner. At this time, the body has not been identified.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
