PEORIA, Ill. -- The Peoria Anti-Hunger Coalition is asking for your help to stock area food pantries.

Thursday, they kicked off their 30th Food Share Can-a-thon.

You can drop off non-perishable item to area Krogers, Curves or Peoria Fire stations.

Organizers say supply is thin this time of year and this food drive helps so many.

"There are single moms there are also the elderly. We have a lot of older folks come in and sometimes at the end of the month it's do I buy medicine or do I buy food and we can help them stretch a little bit longer and a lot of children. I'd say children have the biggest benefit for this kind of thing," Pepper Bauer said.

Volunteers will also go door-to-door this Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. collecting canned goods.
