As kids head back to school, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and the State Board of Education are giving teachers a new resource to address Internet safety issues for students.
A first-of-its-kind Webinar for more than 365 educators take place Tuesday. The training program takes aim at cyber-bullying and "sexting."
One survey shows 93-percent of teenagers between the age of 12 and 17 are on line; 73-percent have cell phones; and 72-percent have a social networking page. While technology opens opportunities, it also creates risk.
"Part of this training is to get kids to understand what they're doing, the consequences of what they're doing, so we don't end up criminally prosecuting kids who are simply, unfortunately, being kids," said Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

The Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria teaches a bullying prevention program in schools for 3rd through 6th graders.
"What we talk about is what respect is. What empathy is. How to treat one another. How we would like to be treated. Because when we think about cyber-bullying it is not any different than school yard bullying. It is about power and control. It is just that these students are using a different way of bullying," said Jeanne Anders with The Center for Prevention of Abuse.
The 22nd Annual Duck Race benefiting The Center for Prevention of Abuse is coming up this Sunday, August 29th.
A five dollar donation sponsors a duck. In turn you qualify for a five-thousand dollar cash prize, depending on how your duck does in the race.
