SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- In Springfield, the candidates lined up Thursday to get on the ballot in the race to replace Illinois Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.

The primary for the special election is February 26, and the general election is April 9.

Among the candidates are former members of Congress Debbie Halvorson and Mel Reynolds. Other candidates include Chicago Alderman Anthony Beale, State Senator Toi Hutchinson and former State Representative Robin Kelly.

Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned in November after holding the seat for 17 years. He cited his health and acknowledged that he is under federal investigation.
