PEORIA, Ill. -- An explosion Wednesday at a home on Peoria’s north side was "accidental and electrical in nature."

Suzan Marquardt, 60, was pronounced dead just before 3pm Wednesday after the explosion and fire in her mobile home at 1104 Bonny Doon Lane.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says and autopsy showed Marquardt died of smoke inhalation and excessive burns.

Emergency crews were called to the home about 12:30pm. Neighbors told firefighters they heard a loud explosion and there may be someone inside.

"Our rescue squad initially went in the back and we were told that the person might be in the back,” said Battalion Chief Kent Seiler. “They went in the back door and did their search and found nothing. They made their way down the hallway and that's when they found the victim deceased."

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting the blaze. The mobile home is considered a total loss.
