PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. -- The streets of Peoria Heights will be filled with color this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Heights will be hosting its very first "Chalk the Walk" event.

The event will feature 20 different artists in tower park creating art with nothing but chalk, the sidewalk, and their imagination.

Officials said the event is a great way for residents to see what their local artists can do.

"Every artist has a distinct style," said Sarah Witbracht, host of the event. "That'll really show in their work and the more creative the better."

The artists have from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to complete their work.

Prizes will be given out for "Artist's Choice" and "People's Choice."

The event is free to the public.
