PEORIA, Ill. -- Parents at Charter Oak School are outraged by actions of the school board.

Wednesday, members of the Parent-Teacher Committee at Charter Oak signed a banner in the school gym supporting Principal John Wetterauer.

Parents said right now they are "in the dark" on matters regarding their principal.

They have created a special committee of their own to investigate allegations and take action.

"The ideal outcome is that John will be back tomorrow in the hallways and continue to give the kids hugs like he does everyday," said PTC member Dan Dugal. "We have almost 500 students here, and almost 100 of them showed up this year because parents chose to send them here."

Committee members said one school board member showed up to the special meeting, but she provided very little information on where the investigation stands because of legal reasons.
