Cooling centers open across central Illinois

PEORIA, Ill. -- With temperatures in the 90 degree range, the Red Cross is opening cooling centers throughout central Illinois.

Below is a list of locations where people can beat the heat.

Fulton County: Dept of Human Services, 1329 North Main Street, Lewistown, from 8:30am to 5pm.

Mason County: Dept of Human Services 323 West Main Street, Havana, from 8:30am to 5pm.

Peoria County: Salvation Army: Sylvia Fites Center 414 NE Jefferson, Peoria, from 8:30am to 5pm.

Peoria County: All Peoria Fire Department Houses, from 8am to 8pm.

Peoria County: Civic Center Verizon Wireless Café 201 SW Jefferson Avenue, Peoria, from 8am to 6pm.

Peoria County: Friendship House 800 NE Madison Peoria from 8:30am to 5pm.

Peoria County: Dept of Human Services 2301 NE Adams Street, Suite C, Peoria from 8:30am to 5pm.

Schuyler County: Dept of Human Services 111 East Washington Street, Rushville from 8:30am to 5pm.

Tazewell County: Dept of Human Services 200 South Second Street, Ste. 20, Pekin from 8:30am to 5pm.

Tazewell County: Dept of Human Services 2970 Court Street, Sunset Plaza, Pekin from 8:30 am to 5pm.

Tazewell County: Pekin City Hall at the Police Station 111 S. Capitol Street (through the entrance on Sabella St) open 24 hours

Tazewell County: Service Center 1130 Kock St., Pekin from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m

McLean County: Department of Human Services 501 West Washington, Bloomington

Livingston County: All Government Offices

LaSalle County: All Government Offices

LaSalle County: Department of Human Services 1560 First Avenue, Ottawa

LaSalle County: Illinois Valley Community Hospital 920 West Street, Peru

Cooling centers are also open at Illinois Department of Human Services offices throughout the state.
