ILLINOIS -- State officials are urging residents to take advantage of cooling centers as the heat wave continues.
During regular business hours, residents can seek shelter at any Illinois Department of Human Services Building.
Those in central Illinois include:
Peoria County Cooling Centers: 2301 N.E. Adams St., Peoria
Tazewell County Cooling Center: 200 S. Second St., Pekin
Logan County Cooling Center: 1550 Fourth Ave., Lincoln
McLean County Cooling Center: 501 W. Washington, Bloomington
Fulton County Cooling Center: 1329 N. Main St., Lewistown
Dewitt County Cooling Center: 1275 Route 54e, Clinton
Knox County Cooling Center: 477 East Main St., Galesburg
Most state operated cooling centers are open from 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
