PEORIA, Ill. -- A group of residents are happy after the Peoria City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night regulating noise at the Expo Gardens.

Last month, the fairgrounds asked the city for seven events, not including the Heart of Illinois Fair.

Tuesday night, the council approved only two-tractor pulls per year and noise regulations for the other scheduled events.

"I am thrilled that the mind-numbing noise that emanates from across the woods behind my home is finally going to be put in check," said Peoria resident Janelle Martel.

The council noted that their will be no changes to the HOI Fair.
