PEORIA, Ill. -- The city council deferred a vote for new management at the Marriott Pere Marquette and Courtyard Marriott.

The developer, EM Properties, has asked the city to approve changing management of the hotels.

But just this week, the company's President Gary Matthews came under fire for multiple lawsuits.

He's facing foreclosure proceedings on other properties in Tazewell County.

Tuesday night, Councilman Chuck Weaver suggested creating a board of directors to work with the hotels temporarily in the place of Matthews.

The council will discuss the management change at their next meeting in two weeks.
