Deadline to file for March primary election passes

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- The upcoming election season is shaping up. Monday marked the deadline to file for the March primary election and some local candidates are getting a challenge.

Former Republican Congressman Bobby Schilling, who is running in the 17th District in an attempt to regain his seat, will face a Republican challenger, Eric Reyes, in the primary.

In the 15th District, Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger will face primary challenger conservative activist David Hale Jr.

State Representative Dave Leitch is getting a primary challenge from Chillicothe attorney Mark Zalcman, who filed his nominating papers Monday.
