PEORIA, Ill. – Michael Freilinger was appointed as the president of the newly formed Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) of Peoria.

The DDC was formed in 2013 to help in economic development of Peoria’s downtown.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and am excited to join the newly formed DDC. A lot of hard work has been done to get us to this point,” said Freilinger. “We now have the resources to turn that vision into a reality by fostering a vibrant and thriving community in Downtown Peoria and the warehouse district.”

Freilinger had been the Tazewell County administrator since April 2012. He developed the county’s first strategic plan as administrator. He starts his new job on June 9.
