PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria Public Works crews began working on residential streets Saturday afternoon.
Supervisor David Haste said the primary routes have been plowed, but traffic is still moving slower than normal.
Crews will be working throughout the night, continuing to treat the light snow mixed with sleet.
They warn drivers to take caution on possible slick areas.
"I just keep to the right and try to focus on what I am doing," said driver, Evan Thomas. "I mean there are a lot of four-wheel-drive trucks and big SUVs that will fly past you. You just have to do what you have to do."
"I drive like an old lady. I have a Hummer and I still drive slow," said driver, Debbie Bogard. "I just drive slow, and I am cautious."
City crews said they expect to complete residential plowing by the morning.
Bloomington Public Works Director, Jim Karch said major roads are clear and crews are working on subdivisions.
With temperatures expected to drop Saturday night, roads will be very slick.
