DUNLAP, Ill. -- A church in Dunlap celebrates its 35th anniversary in a major way.

Each Sunday more than 100 Dunlap residents worship at Cedar Hill Baptist Church.

This service was a historic one.

Pastor Tim Beddingfield prepared his congregation for expansion.

The church raised almost $300,000 to increase in size.

But Pastor Beddingfield says it's not just about space.

"We're not really in it to build a building. We're in it to build people," Beddingfield said.

On the church's 35th anniversary, what better day to break ground.

The church's new space will include a daycare, gymnasium and counseling center for the community -- additions that members believe are much needed.

"It would be an opportunity to minister to families like ours that maybe don't have family at all," said Debbie King.

The construction of the 9100 square foot expansion is set to begin in July.
