For more than a quarter of a century, it's been the unofficial start to the holiday-season.
Monday night East Peoria kicked off its 27th Annual Festival of Lights.
After a countdown, the Festival of Lights Queen helped light the largest wreath in central Illinois for the holiday season.
"I'm really excited to be a part of of the parade. This year I will be in it instead of sitting from the sidelines watching," said Demi Broderson, Festival of Lights Queen.
Broderson an East Peoria native and a junior at East Peoria Community High School.
The Festival of Lights Parade will be this Saturday.
It begins at 5:45 from the intersection of East Washington Street and Dolans Lane.
This year, it will end in a different place, at the Intersection of Main Street and Springfield Road near CVS.
