PEKIN, Ill. -- A Pekin man made good on a pledge on Thursday after reaching his goal in the annual Duck Race benefiting the Center for Prevention of Abuse.

Pekin Insurance employee Joe Ricigliano sold 2,500 ducks in time for the race last Saturday.

Thursday several of his co-workers gathered to watch Joe lose his hair. That's right his hair. A barber trimmed all of Joe's hair off his head.

Joe said he made the pledge to help raise awareness about the problem of abuse.

"It takes an individual tremendous effort to develop the courage to move forward and change their life. Hopefully by just doing this it might help even one family," he said.

The annual Duck Race raised close to $170,000. More than 25,000 ducks were sold.
