EUREKA, Ill -- Some criminal justice students at Eureka college had a special guest teacher Friday.

Judge James Shadid stopped by to give insight as the students learned about vehicle searches and check points. Judge Shadid has been practicing law for more than 30 years, and was appointed by President Obama to the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois in 2011.

"I hope they take away...what a great system we really have," Shadid said. "And the fact that we are able to have these types of discussions is an indication of the system that we have."

Shadid went on to say trips like these are common for him, and he loves learning from the students.
