If you were affected by last month's tornado, FEMA wants you to get registered.
More than 600 residents have yet to register for assistance. Money received from FEMA does not have to be repaid.
Even if you have insurance, FEMA can help cover the expenses insurance might not.
"There are people who think that their income or their credit rating or any number of those kinds of things are tied to whether or not they receive assistance and that's totally false," said FEMA representative Deanna Frazier.
You can register one of three ways: Online, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or by visiting the Disaster survivor's recovery center at the East Peoria Festival building.
You only have until January 27 to register.
