EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria woman is making a slow recovery following an incident that left her seriously injured.

Trisha Davidson, 30, remains in the hospital with a broken spine and is paralyzed from the chest down.

Davidson suffered the injuries after she was allegedly thrown from a vehicle and possibly run over.

Friends and family gathered Sunday to pray for her recovery.

Davidson's mother, Karen Kipfer, said her daughter was caught up in the drug world and that God has truly given her a second chance at life.

"The prayers have brought us so far already. My daughter came off the respirator this morning and is breathing on her own which is a blessing in itself,” said Karen Kipfer, Trisha's mother. “These are all loved ones of Trisha's that love and care and have been behind her with the power of prayer."

Jeremy Gleason, 26, is charged with one count of Aggravated Battery in the incident.
