EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- April is national autism awareness month, and some members of the Central Illinois Cruisers are hoping to rev up awareness for the disorder.
The group held their car show today in East Peoria.
The event featured classic Music and classic cars, but the main attraction may have been a custom motorcycle.
10 year old Liam Spillman and his father, Brian, showcased the bike they hand built for Liam's older brother, who is autistic.
The duo said what started as a simple father-son project, quickly turned into a community effort.
"A lot of people showed up, donated their time and material to help all this come together. It's just a really great way to raise awareness for autism," said Brian Spillman.
The Spillman's said they hope to bring the bike out for more events throughout the summer.
