PEORIA, Ill. -- Firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Western Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

When crews arrived, the fire was roaring through the two story frame building.

Police said the building was vacant and known to be a location for vagrants.

Fire crews blocked off nearby streets and additional water was brought in to fight the blaze.

A witness told News 25 that he saw someone running away from the building at the time of the fire, but this has not been confirmed by police.
