NORMAL, Ill. -- Firefighters battled the freezing temperatures in addition to a fire late Monday night.

Crews responded to 1327 East Vernon Avenue shortly after 11 last night.

When they arrived, fire was seen coming from the roof and smoke could be seen from blocks away.

Firefighters from both Normal and Bloomington were able to control the fire after 30 minutes. Public works crews were called in to prevent ice buildup from water runoff.

No injuries were reported.
