PEORIA, Ill. – It appears an apartment building in Peoria's Randolph-Roanoke Historic District will be torn down after two fires there.

Firefighters were called to the corner of Northeast Roanoke and West Columbia Terrace around seven Tuesday morning. When they arrived, the third floor was already engulfed.

Firefighters tried to attack the fire from inside the building, but were forced out by oppressive heat.

A separate fire caused $20,000 in damage in this same building Monday

Tuesday's damage is pegged at half a million dollars.

The building has now been turned over to demolition crews.
