Flooding puts a damper on Midwestern gasoline prices

According to AAA, the national average for gasoline is down from last year. However, in the Great Lakes recent flooding is putting a damper on those prices at the pump.

The national average for a gallon of unleaded gas is $3.49, in Illinois the average is $3.89.

According to AAA, prices in the Midwest reflect flooding concerns about gasoline production in Whiting, Indiana and refinery production in Joliet.

Analysts do expect, however, the uptick to recede along with river and flood levels in the coming the weeks.
