PEORIA, Ill. -- Owners of a former downtown Peoria club with a violent past will have to wait another month before learning whether or not city leaders will grant them a fresh start.
Owners of the Players Club, located at 815 SW Adams in Peoria, have filed a request for a 4 am liquor license.
Peoria city council members will deferred the motion until after January 1, stating that more information was needed before taking a vote.
Peoria police are reportedly against the move. The club has a history of illegal activity, which includes the fatal shooting of a security guard there.
Owners say the building is under new management. Still, the city liquor commission has recommended council members deny the request.
