On Tuesday, enjoying a cool treat on a warm summer day actually ended up helping others in need.

A&W restaurants gave away root beer floats, as part of National Root Beer Float day, in exchange for a donation to charity.

The donated money went to the Wounded Warrior Project. The Project aims to help injured veterans all over the United States.

This was the first year for the collaboration, but Assistant Manager Jessica Fannon says they are already thinking about ways to improve the event for next year.

“Probably next year we'll do it again, we'll just be more staffed so we'll have enough people to give out so many floats,” said Asst. Manager Jessica Fannon, A&W Restaurant East Peoria.

The event was only on Tuesday, but you can still donate by visiting the Wounded Warrior Project website at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
