BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Bloomington Fire Department says a suspicious package brought to the McLean County Health Department Wednesday morning contained no threatening materials.

Firefighters and a hazmat crew responded to the Health Department parking lot just before 10:30 a.m. after a woman told Health Department employees that she had a package in her car that contained a white powder.

The woman said the package had been delivered to her house on Tuesday. She put the package into a small recycle container and then into a sealed plastic bag.

The hazmat crew sampled the powder and determined it was not a biological hazard or threat.

The Health Department remains open and is safe to enter.
