TREMONT, Ill. -- With less than two weeks until the deadline for individuals to enroll for health insurance, local health departments are reaching out to their communities.
The Tazewell County Health Department held an open house on Thursday.
Residents met with in-person counselors to find the best plan for them under the Affordable Care Act, whether its through the marketplace or expanded medicaid.
Sara Sparkman with the health department says people now realize the deadline is looming.
"We fully expect people are realizing that March 31st is right around the corner. So they want to get out, get some assistance, get their questions answered is the main thing," said Sparkman.
The deadline to enroll for health insurance is Monday, March 31st.
If you weren't able to make it to the open house, you can still call the Tazewell County Health Department, or your local department, to schedule an appointment with an in-person counselor.
