PEORIA, Ill. – When officers arrested home invasion suspect Perry Rosetto, he was carrying bags filled with items stolen during the home invasions.
Police sorted through the items recovered and are putting them on display for the victims.
The items ranged from electronics to jewelry. One victim even found her wedding ring.
Police said the rightful owners will have the chance to claim the items. Chief Steve Settingsgaard said what started as the suspect being tipped off turned into an advantage for his force.
"He came home with the sole purpose of hiding all of the property, which is how we got him out of the house carrying bags of stolen goods,” Settingsgaard said. “So while it was accidental that he became aware that we were on to him, it worked to our advantage because he waltzed right into our hands carrying lots of stolen goods."
The chief also said the items found after the arrest should all be back in the owners’ hands within the next day or two.
