PEORIA, Ill. -- Road conditions weren't too bad for the 11th hour holiday travelers.

Some hit the road to spend time with loved ones, others cut the holidays short to head back home for work tomorrow.

For one Louisiana woman, while Christmas in Illinois may be different, she wouldn't pass up a chance to spend it with her friends and family.

“It's a lot different here than it is in Louisiana,” said Judy Guillory. “It's cold, but it hasn't been too bad. It's been very enjoyable.”

For Jason Sprakties of the United States Army, there is no place like home for the holidays.

He and his family hit the road today to make sure they got to spend time with everyone in the family.

“It's great; I get to spend time with my wife and two kids. I get about a month off,” Sprakties said.

Jason has been stationed in Germany for the last three years.

He says spending a holiday with his family is extremely rare.

So he is taking full advantage of his time off.
