MOUNT MORRIS, Ill. – The black bear which has been roaming across northern Illinois was spotted again about 7 a.m. Wednesday, NBC Chicago reported.
The young bear climbed up a tree outside Pine Crest Nursing Home in Mount Morris, a small town about 100 miles west of Chicago.
People surrounded the tree to take photos and video with their cell phones before police intervened.
"So far it hasn't demonstrated any signs of aggressiveness. It's more afraid of people right now," said Dan Elasser, village president of Mount Morris told NBC Chicago. "We're not sure where it's planning to go to, but it wants to be left alone. It hasn't demonstrated any contact with humans or shown any aggressive traits."
The bear first appeared June 7 in Rockford and made his way through DeKalb and Ogle counties.
Residents are warned not to feed the bear for fear it could start hanging around inhabited areas looking for food.
