In Illinois, most everyone knows what to do when a tornado hits, but what about an earthquake?

That's why the state is participating in the international great shake-out drill.

Thursday, October 17th, an "earthquake" will hit Illinois at precisely 10:17 a.m.

During that time, residents are urged to practice the "Drop, Cover and Hold On" procedure.

"Drop" down to the floor, take "Cover" under a sturdy desk or table, and "Hold On" until the shaking stops.

In all, the drill will last two minutes.
