CHICAGO -- The Illinois Department of Employment Security announced Friday that Illinois gained over 15,000 jobs and October and that the unemployment rate has fallen to 8.9 percent.
Illinois added 15,400 jobs in October after gaining 10,300 jobs in September. The September and October reports are combined in Illinois as a result of the government shutdown.
The unemployment rate’s three-month moving average was unchanged at 9.1 percent in October.
The national unemployment rate is 7.3 percent.
