PEORIA, Ill. -- For nearly a decade, Le Peep in Peoria has been gaining more and more popularity year by year.

"We do a lot of skillets, and all of our pancakes are made from scratch," according to the owner. "And I think that brings a lot of people in too, because not a lot of places do that."

Le Peep's owner, Dan Schlink, has more than 18 years of experience as a professional chef.

"I've got a lot of cooks here that have been with me a long time," said Schlink. "And they do consistent cooking and that's what brings the people back."

Schlink says the food is always fresh, and the kitchen is stocked with healthy ingredients as the restaurant plans on providing vegan options within the year.

Nicki Lane is back after two previous trips to Le Peep. This time she ordered French toast, pancakes, and a skillet.

"It's good," Lane said. "It seems kind of fresh and healthy, and it's really good."

"It's wonderful, the way it's prepared, and I love the coffee," said regular customer Bob Williams. "The coffee is good."

After hounding me about eating ribs for a month, John Kendall was invited to come along this week.

John ordered a breakfast classic called the Hen Pen: two eggs with choice of meat, peasant potatoes, and toast or muffin.

I had the Stuffed French Toast made with Vienna bread, filled with vanilla ricotta cheese, and covered in strawberries and powdered sugar.

I ordered a side of sliced banana to compliment the strawberries, not that this brunch needs any compliments other than, "It's awesome."

Our meals with two milks and a cup of coffee came to $21.84 plus tip.

Le Peep is even known to attract the occasional local celebrity, and I'm not talking about anyone from our news crew.

Congressman Aaron Schock was eating brunch across the aisle before taking time out of his meal to chat with us about politics.

"It's very good service," Schlink said. "A lot of the servers have been with me a long time, the atmosphere is good, and people like the menu."

Le Peep is located at 7501 North University in Peoria.

It is open for breakfast and lunch all week.
