Local broadcaster dies over the weekend

PEORIA, Ill. -- Former WEEK Station Manager Bill Adams died over the weekend. He was 88 years old.

Bill Adams joined WEEK in the 1960's, as promotions manager. He became sales manager an eventually General Manager of the station.

His proudest accomplishment was giving the go-ahead to the first St. Jude Telethon in Peoria.

He retired in 1985, but went on to a second career as a columnist for the Peoria Journal Star, writing a weekly series of stories about the history of Peoria and wrote four books on the subject.

His wife, Flossie, preceded him in death.

He is survived by five children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m.
