PEORIA, Ill. -- A Peoria business owner didn't survive a swim with the "Sharks."

Echo Valley Meats Owner Dave Alwan pitched a $300,000 plan to expand his mail-order business nationally to business moguls on the ABC TV show "Shark Tank" Friday night.

But they said he didn't have strategy to do so, and all five sharks passed on the investment.

Alwan watched the show with a room full of friends and supporters in Peoria.

Though he sank on the show, Alwan said nearly 600 orders have been placed on his website from the national exposure, including the sharks.

"Two of them have been ordering from me since I was on the show. One of them has had three orders, another one two and another one one. It's been a great experience. I've met some great people. I've always believed in don't try to candy coat something you don't know, so i was very honest. and i didn't know that answer to that question so I just said what I knew," said Shark Tank contestant Dave Alwan.

Alwan said making it to national TV was worth more than $3 million in advertising.
