PEORIA, Ill. -- Almost one year after it's introduction, the Don't Shoot Peoria initiative is growing.
Officials said there are more than a dozen individuals with gang affiliation currently enrolled in the re-entry assistance program.
On Wednesday, March 27th, Illinois Central College's Public Service and Community Outreach Department will host a panel discussion on the status of the Don't Shoot Program.
The panel includes Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis, Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard, Peoria County State's Attorney Jerry Brady, Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tate Chambers.
The discussion begins at 9:30 a.m. on the ICC North Campus in the Arbor Hall auditorium.
The event is free to the public.
