TREMONT -- Students in Tremont School District 702 return to class on Thursday, and officials hope the community will answer a call to action to make this school year a success.

The state owes the school district $200,000 in general aid.
Instead of waiting for the state to act, district officials are taking matters into their own hands.
This Saturday, they're holding a "Bridge the Gap" fundraiser.
There will be family fun events from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Tremont High School.

All of the money raised will be used to install air conditioning at Tremont Grade School and help support the district's 40 clubs and sports teams.
