LONDON MILLS, Ill. -- The small village of London Mills has seen a rash of burglaries. Now the police are asking the community to take extra precautions.

London Mills Police Sergeant Jim Record said over the past several weeks the post office, a bar and a mechanic shop have all been broken into. Two vehicles were also stolen.

Sgt. Record said it is a small town, but citizens still need to keep their guard up to keep their property and families safe.

"People need to remember to lock their doors and take their keys out of their vehicles and those sort of physical securities take care of their family to make sure that ya know, living in the small town of yesterday, I think, is going away. So they need to make sure that they do the right thing to defend themselves from being the east target," he said.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call London Mills Police or the Fulton County Sheriff's office.

A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest of those involved in the post office burglary.
