This is one of the world's deadliest spiders.....watch out, and Australians have been asked to go out and catch the spider, the funnel-web.
Boy, does that not seem like a good idea, but funnel-web poison is needed to make the funnel web anti-venom which is used to treat spider bite victims.
Without the anti-venom, victims may die within the hour. That's why catching them seems like such a bad idea.
The Australian Reptile Park, north of Sydney, is the only place where venom is extracted to make the anti-venom. The venom is taken by stroking their fangs and collecting the tiny droplets of deadly poison.
Just one dose of anti-venom takes around 70 milkings from a spider. The males are six times more deadly than the females and are therefore more sought after.
