This may be new year's eve to you, but it's Hogmanay in Scotland; A new year's celebration that has some quirks.
More than 8,000 people joined a torchlight parade in Edinburgh at the beginning of the three-day new year festival. Hogmanay includes --these days--fireworks and parties...and traditionalists begin visiting neighbors at midnight...bringing gifts, including whiskey and fruitcakes.
Traditionally, if a dark haired man crosses a thresh hold first...good luck will follow.
These visits can go on for days. Since Wednesday is a holiday, and the day following a bank-holiday in Scotland...the partying continues for three days.
