PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria police Captain Mike Eddlemon says a lack of witnesses is making it difficult for officers to find who may be responsible for the city's latest homicide.

Handwritten notes, flowers and teddy bears make up a memorial for Daledrek Carpenter.

The 22-year-old died in the alley near the 1100 block of West Lincoln early Saturday morning from multiple gunshot wounds to the back.

Eddlemon says officers are conducting interviews and examining past history to track down leads.

A cab driver was shot in the leg while in his vehicle in the 1300 block of West Martin around the same time as the homicide.

Eddlemon says police are working to see if the two incidents are related, though they don't appear to be.
