PEORIA, Ill. -- It was a scary start to Father’s Day for one Peoria man.
87-year-old Gerald Paul awoke to a fire in his home on Briarwood Ct., just off Knoxville ave.
His daughter, Georgia Bond, said Paul called her immediately when he noticed the fire around 7 p.m.
She said she acted fast.
“I jumped out of bed and tried to get as much information that I could,” said Bond. “I called all my siblings and got them over here. As soon as I could get over here I did.”
Paul did not suffer any injuries from the fire.
Chief Kent Seiler from the Peoria Fire Department says the fire made its way to the attic.
He also says the second floor was full of storage material that was set ablaze.
