MARSEILLES, Ill. -- While the town of Marseilles begins the long process of cleaning up the damage left behind by flood waters, one resident has something to celebrate.

“I just about fell over… and I’m still in shock!” Gayle Holcomb said when she turned in her winning $1,000 A Week For Life instant ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Rockford.

The Marseilles resident was sitting in her car when she used a lucky penny to scratch the ticket and instantly won $1,000 a week for life.

On Friday, Illinois Lottery officials presented her an over-sized check for $762,000.

Married with two children, Holcomb says she plans to share the winnings with family.

“Sharing this money with my family was the first thing I thought of," she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K, 290 Main Street in Marseilles. The store will receive a $7,620 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Holcomb chose the one-time cash option of $762,000.
