TOULON, Ill. -- A Toulon woman accused of abandoning her baby has changed her plea to guilty.
At a pretrial hearing Friday, 19-year-old Kendra Meaker entered the written guilty plea via her court appointed public defender.
Meaker pleaded guilty to both charges against her: obstruction of justice/destroying evidence and endangering the life/health of a child.
She is accused of dumping her newborn, Mia Grace Thompson, in a ditch on a rural road near Toulon and then claiming to authorities the child was kidnapped at the post office.
Mia was later found alive.
A sentencing date has been set for March 8.
